stuff

July 16, 2010
I am looking at all of my “stuff”. Some of you see me as a minimalist, not! It will be interesting to see what I end up with. When I was packing I kept thinking I would never be in civilization again!?! For all of you who don’t know, I only kept a storage unit of 5’x10’ of more stuff. It’s packed to the gills. Most of it I don’t think will work well in a tee pee or yurt.

slowing down by the Scott River

July 21, 2010

Indian Scotty Campground, Fort Jones, Ca

Well, yesterday was getting out of dodge and breaking free of metropolis living…..done. It was a day of sloooowing down (speeding ticket and flat tire!). I have now come to a screeching halt: no cell phone and no internet, not even on my phone. Spirit has now forced me to start paying attention. To what you might say? The river that is rushing in front of me, the fear of bears tonight, and the time to breath in the beautiful Mount Shasta air are a few of the new realities that I am not ready to pay attention to. I really didn’t think I would be “off the grid” so soon. I am still wanting to get my “to do” list done, phone everyone I know and stay busy, busy, busy! The only other camper here is the camp host; a retired elderly (older than me) lady and her Pomeranian. Lola hates her dog! She lives here from May until October and then goes home to her husband. What a great life….to me that is! I seriously have wanted to grow up and be a Camp Host!

The First Day of a New Life

July 20, 2010 A flat tire and a speeding ticket!!!
The flat tire happened only 9 miles from take-off in the town I grew up in, Garden Grove.  As I sat there shaking my head in frustration at the tire store I realized I had an opportunity to reflect on the beginning of my life in OC.  My folks immigrated here from Canada when I was 5 and I lived here for 20 years.  I let go and let God take me on my journey down memory lane for 30 minutes.  So what turned out was a blessing, a time to pause and reflect and slow down.
Then the speeding ticket......a definite message to sloooooooooooooooooow down!!!!  By this time I was 7 hours into a long drive and wasn't ruffled much.  I was going to fast (90).  Thank God I can take traffic school online on a farm somewhere!

Not much can ruffle me right now...I am still feeling the effects of all of your love from my party and cards that I have received!  THANK YOU!  I'll write more on all that after I have had some sleep!
